Winter Outfits: cosy but classy

The most important things to remember when creating an outfit this winter are:

  1. Browns are in
  2. Sweater dresses/long ribbed skirts
  3. Hats are a great way to accessorise
  4. Big coats
  5. Thigh high boots
  6. Oversized Blazers

Outfit 1:

Here is three of my favourite trends this season combined into one outfit and boy did I feel sassy wearing it. I love oversized blazers, I actually bought mine a size bigger than I normally do because I wanted that oversized look. Pair that with some thigh high boots, some giant gold hoops and a black hat and you’ve got yourself a sassy but classy outfit.

Outfit 2:

I’ve been loving the knitted dress/jumper and skirt co-ord trend lately, I got this one from Pimkie, it’s a French brand I hadn’t heard of before but they actually have really cool clothes and very decent prices, there are lots of items on ASOS but they also have their own website, unfortunately the brand doesn’t ship to the U.K. from their own site where they have more items.

Outfit 3:

This is one of those rare times I wear more than one item of colour. To keep me extra warm I wore a white, long-sleeved turtle neck top on underneath the light blue jumper, and then put my warm Topshop Borg coat over the top. I added some funky earrings to complete the outfit.

Teal Borg Coat – Topshop – £69 –

Earrings – Primark – £2

Outfit 4:

Short skirts, black tights, a long-sleeved turtle neck, ankle boots and a big coat over the top is my go-to outfit choice in the winter if I’m wanting to be comfortable but also look like I’ve made an effort. Turtle neck jumpers/tops are my favourite thing to wear in the colder months because they’re so versatile.

*Tip: buy your turtlenecks in the right size, not too small that you can’t fit your head in and your foundation gets all over the neck but also not so big that it’s baggy and unflattering, and tuck it into your skirt/trousers for a more sophisticated look.

I am obsessed with this dress I bought last week from Zara, I love the subtle snake print that you can only really see when you’re up close. I paired it with my Pimkie boots and a black aviator jacket.

A long camel coat can make a simple outfit like a plain black top and flares a lot more sophisticated. If you want to add a bit more to the outfit add a belt, some necklaces and wear with ankle boots and a tote bag. I didn’t do much this day so I just threw on the coat and my converse and it still looked like I’d made somewhat of an effort.
